Dr. Jim Gentilly (1888-1953), a prominent Cleveland dentist, was an officer of the IBM (No. 659) in its early days and a founder of Ohio Dental Ring No. 24.

Biography

Dr. Gentilly was one of the founders of the Magicians Club of Cleveland in 1923 and his mentor was Harry Blackstone. He was also a close friend of Karl Germain.

He sculptured a bust of Blackstone which was displayed in a Cleveland magic shop as well as the Magic Castle. [1]

His magic performances were limited to charity shows and his many clubs. He was noted within the profession for his Thumb Tie routine, using large brass hoops, which he presented to me after his retirement from magic. [2]

Dr. Gentilly died at Bad River Camp, a fishing camp in the Georgian Bay district of Canada.
