Dundee Society Of Magicians
The Dundee Society of Magicians (1911-1936) was the first magical club to be formed in Scotland on March 16, 1911.
The club first met in Mathers Hotel, 1 Commercial Street, Dundee and was soon meeting monthly. Along with the President David Smith, early members included James Knight (V.Pres.), Herr Einwol (Treas.), A.R. Small (Sec.), D. De Weller, J. Gow, Geo. Souter, C. Nairn, and Will Barrie.
The club honored George Munro by making him their first Honorary President.
Magazines published over the years gave the following names as members of the Society: David Smith, James Scott, William Mearns, Mr Young, Mr Cairns, Prof. Jenkins, Master William Mearns, Master Gordon McGuire, Mr Charles Sime, Mr Galloway and Mr Sutherland.
Reports and articles of the Society were published in The Magic Wand and Magical World. A show was organized by the Society was held in 1914.
