Emil Loew (1919-2002) was a Past President and Dean of the S.A.M. Parent Assembly #1 in New York City.
Biography
Loew became interested in magic at the age of six after getting magic set help help recover from a three-month long illness. By the age of nine, he was already performing small tricks at parties . By twelve he had an act which he developed and took him through high school and college.
After school he became involved in various businesses, during which time he spent fifteen years traveling in France,Germany, Denmark, Italy, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Sweden, and Finland. He met many magicians, which he would later chronicle in his autobiography "The Joy of Magic".
Emil came to the U.S. byway of England in 1940 after his native Holland was invaded by Hitler. He settled in New York City and became a member of the S.A.M.in 1941.
