Gold Fish Trick

Gold Fish Trick, also known as Aerial Fishing, was created by Walter Mingus Hopler (Professor Mingus) in 1893. He performed in in New Jersey and New York vaudeville.

A fishing pole with bait and hook was swung out over the audience and a goldfish would appear dangling from the end.

William Robinson (Chung Ling Soo) was one of the first to try and get the secret of the Gold Fish for his new Oriental act after Professor Mingus retired.

John Booth, Cecil Lyle, Alan Shaxon and Mac King have all been known to perform it.
