H. A. Brauer (1888-?) was an escape artist in Virginia.

Brauer became interested in sleight-of-hand at 15 and started performing in club and society entertainments throughout Virginia. He latter branched out to vaudeville.

A few years later he changed his performance to "The Challenge Handcuff Act" featuring escapes from Handcuffs, Mail bags, Straight Jackets and Packing cases. He would close with the Milk Can Escape, by allowing the committee to tie him up in a cloth bag previous to his being placed in the can filled with water. Brauer made several escapes from jails throughout Virginia. [1]

In the 1926, IBM membership listed Brauer as member number 574 with the address "c/o Car Accountant, Chesapeake & Ohio Ry., Richmond, Va".
