Harry Kreko (c.1904-1953), stage name of magician Harry Whitefield, helped organize I.B.M. Ring 56 in Evansville, Indiana.[1]

Biography

Kreko started learning magic in 1920 as a high school pupil in Cookeville, Tennessee. He would entertain audiences throughout the Kentucky Tri-State area. He formed his own company in 1933, and was married to a girl in his show in 1938.

In 1942 he brought his cavalcade to Uniontown, Kentucky and started a theater in his tent. Within a few months he opened Union Theater, which he owned until his death. The town had no patrolman in 1942 and the Mayor persuaded him to take the job and in 1943 he went to Morganfield, Kentucky as chief of police.[2]

Kreko turned over his show to his student, Al Maddox when he retired.[3]

Kreko died in Sarasota, Florida while vacationing with his wife, Phyllis.[4][5]
