Haruhito Hirata

Flourished1970s - 1980s

Haruhito Hirata is the inventor of a seminal coin-through-table move called the Hirata Master Move, introduced to American audiences in 1979 at the Magiconn Convention in Hartford, wherein a single coin held at the magician’s fingertips is brought down to the table's surface and disappears instantly, passing through to the other side. The technique was published in Gary Ouellet’s 1980 book, The Silver Passage (Masters of Magic series, Vol. 1, #3).
