Ionia (1883 - 1973), daughter of magicians Charles De Vere and Okita, began performing in 1910 as "Ionia, the Goddess of Mystery" and "The Enchantress".

Biography

Ionia is the stage name for Clementine de Vere. She was born in Brussels, Belgium in 1888. She married Herman Weedon, an American lion tamer, on May 5th 1904.

Clementine performed as Ionia until 1913. She then left the world of magic and went to Russia in 1914. She was in Russia during the Revolution. For the last part of her time in Russia she was held in the cellar of a hotel for 3 month. Her materials, which were not magic related, were pillaged and lost. She then fled Russia as a refugee.
