Jack Avis (July 27, 1921 - January 8, 2004) a British close-up magician and inventor. A printer by profession, he served in the British army over in Africa and Italy.

At one time he performed under the stage name Siva, which is Avis spelled backwards, which is also the name used for the card sleight he created (Siva count).

Author of over four hundred items in magazines, books and contributions to Pallbearer's Review, Epilogue, Pentagram and many other magic periodicals.
