Brewer's vocation was of a tool and die maker with the Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Harry Cecil Ring No. 22, Detroit, Michigan and was known for his version of the Twenty Card Trick.

He received his initial magic instruction from Edgar Oates, a leading magician there at the time. He came to America as a youth in 1905 but returned to England during the World War, later returning to the United States to reside in Detroit.[1][2]
