Jean Nicholas Ponsin was a schoolmaster and amateur magician.

Ponsin wrote a book, which was published in 1853, entitled Nouvelle Magie Blanche Dévoilée. His book was used by Prof. Hoffmann, together with that of Robert-Houdin, when collecting material for Modern Magic. A translation of those parts of his work not used by Hoffmann was published in 1937 by S.H. Sharpe under the title Ponsin On Conjuring.
