Joseph "Joe" A. Klein (b.1865-d.1928) opened the Bamberg Magic and Novelty Company in 1909 at 1193 Broadway, New York City in partnership with Okito.

Biography

Klein, the son-in-law of the music publisher, Julius Witmark, was Okito's business partner in the Bamberg Magic and Novelty Company. He took care of the advertising and publicity matters connected with the magic store which Okito opened at Broadway and 28th Street.

He had chronic indigestion and always kept a little cardboard pillbox full of small white tablets on his desk. In 1909, While playing around with these Klein's pillboxes, Okito came up with his famous Okito Coin Box used to perform coin magic.

In August of 1914, the world war started and all imports from Germany were cut, which was the final blow for the Company which had been ailing for some time. Bamberg and Klein dissolved the partnership.[1]

Klein published The Record and National Magic News.

He was S.A.M. member number 295.[2]
