John Connelly (1918-2011) served as Treasurer for the Society of American Magicians for more than 20 years.
Biography
He started with a Gilbert Mysto Magic Set in 1929, after seeing the "Blackstone Show" in Lynn, Massachusetts where lived all of his life
He played nightclubs and club dates with a 12-minute pantomime act and during World War II he performed more than 2,000 volunteer USO shows. He joined Assembly No. 9 in Boston in 1948 and was responsible for developing the Witch City Assembly No. 104 in. Salem. He had a small mail order business while also working in the civil service as a postal clerk.
In 1965, he developed a 40 minute lecture on ESP and parapsychology. This took him to Japan where he became the first American performer to appear on Japanese TV. [1]
He was elected into the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame and Magic Museum.
