Joseph Irving, starting his stage career at age 12, performed as a juggler, strongman and magician for 76 years.
In 1904, he was in the act was known as Irving and Spillman with Anna Spillman who would later become his wife.[1]
He had been a member of the IBM starting in 1939 (No. 6528) and performed school shows in Chicago for many years and later in Oklahoma when he moved there around 1960.[2]
He served as president of the IBM Ring No. 46, in Oklahoma City. Assisted by his wife, Ann, even with advancing years, he carried large equipment, stage settings and many props.
A photo of the Irvings can be seen on the Conjuring Arts' exhibit, "The Many Faces of Magic."[3]
