Joseph Irving (1883-1971), after starting his stage career at age 12, performed as a juggler, strongman and magician for 76 years.

Biography

In 1904, he was in the act with Anna Spillman known as "Irving and Spillman", who would later become his wife.[1]

He had been a member of the IBM starting in 1939 (No. 6528) and performed school shows in Chicago for many years, then later in Oklahoma after moving there around 1960.[2] He served as president of the IBM Ring No. 46, in Oklahoma City.

Assisted by his wife, even with advancing years, he carried large equipment, stage settings and many props.

A photo of the Irvings can be seen on the Conjuring Arts' exhibit, "The Many Faces of Magic."[3]
