Laurie L. Ireland (1898-1954), known for his skill in sleeving and billiard ball manipulations, was a magician and Chicago magic dealer.[2]

In 1925, he opened the L.L. Ireland Magic Co. in Chicago (which became Magic, Inc.) and met with his wife Frances Ireland.

Ireland had been a magician since childhood. By the time he was 25 he was developing and selling magical tricks of his own and then as the Ireland Magic Co.

He invented more than fifty tricks, most of them manipulative, including his line of golf ball tricks.[3][4]

He created the Multiplying Golf Balls and Otto the Duck (1936) (see also "Jo-Anne the Duck").[5]
