Len J. Sewell (1894-?) became interested in magic in 1912 and joined the "Order of the Magi" the following year. He became an admirer of David Devant. Landing in Brisbane during 1914 and would later inaugurated the Queensland Magicians' Society. He later lived in Kandos, N.S.W. and finally settled in Perth, West Australia, where he became General Manager of the Swan Portland Cement Co. and later a Director and Technical Consultant.

Sewell personally knew Will Goldston, Stanley Collins, Houdini, Chung Ling Soo, Gogia Pasha, Gus Fowler, Dante, Levante, and Rooklyn.

When featured on the cover of Genii in 1977, he was still living in West Australia.
