Max Alexander (1848-1924), the stage name of Carl Max Alexis Rhodin, toured Europe with his magical show.

Biography

His magical career started at the age of 13 as an assistent to the danish magician Joseph LeTort, He run away from Altona, in danish Schlesweig Holstein. and his family at his 13;th birthday. He made tourney with J. LeTort as his assistant in America 1867, just after the American Civil War. He lived for seven years at Rupert Street in London, a few years in Hamburg and twelve years in Riga. Alexander would tour England (1872, 1880-86) and Latvia (1889-1905).

His two successive assistant-wives were "Rhombello" and "Rosa Alexander".[1]

From about the turn of the century he lived in Copenhagen and performed regularly in the Scandinavian countries. One of his main feats was a coin-catching routine.

One of his sons was to be known as Brazil Jack, who for many years run a circus and also appeared as a magician. Another son, Max von Rhodin, toured Sweden as a magician for a few years.[2]
