Max Alexander (1848-1924), the stage name of Carl Max Alexis Rhodin, toured Europe with his magical show.
Biography
His magical career started at the age of 18. He lived for seven years in London, a few years in Hamburg and twelve years in Riga. Alexander would tour England (1872, 1880-86) and Latvia (1889-1905).
His two successive assistant-wives were "Rhombello" and "Rosa Alexander".[1]
From about the turn of the century he lived in Copenhagen and performed regularly in the Scandinavian countries. One of his main feats was a coin-catching routine.
One of his sons was to be known as Brazil Jack, who for many years run a circus and also appeared as a magician. Another son, Max von Rhodin, toured Sweden as a magician for a few years.[2]
