M'lle Catherine (Millie Catherine Nelson d. 18596) described her occupation as a "sleight-of-hand performer, illusionist and trainer of quadrupeds and bipeds."
She started performing with horses in circuses as "Madame Blanche". She married fellow circus performer Arthur Alfred Nelson.
By April of 1881, they traveled to the United States with their son to perform. Catherine developed a trained bird act by 1881 and within a few years was adding magic effects. For many years she toured second tier Vaudeville theaters in America.
