Murray (1901 - February 1988 ) was born Leo Norman Maurien Murray Stuart Carrington-Walters in Australia. He performed for several decades all over the world, best known for his publicity escape stunts he devised. He may have been the person who coined the word "Escapologist". Some regarded him better then Houdini.

He retired in 1950 and opened Murray's Magic Mart in England.

In 1986, he received the Masters Fellowship the Academy of Magical Arts.
