Biography

Hahne graduated from the University of Dayton with a BS degree in Commerce.

He Illustrated Jean Hugard's Modern Magic Manual and J. B. Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. He drew illustrations for the Linking Ring Magazine for many years.[1] and provided many illustrations and covers for the mentalism catalogues of Robert Nelson. Most of his drawings were unsigned, but when he did sign his work, he either used his initials, NH, or his surname, Nelson. An excellent anatomist and designer, his style changed over the years from formal Art Deco pen-and ink compositions in the 1930s to looser brush-and-ink commercial art renderings in the 1950s. His versatility permitted him to also work in a comedic or cartooney pen style, and to create cleanly detailed instructional line drawings that never called attention to their status as art.

Hahne was a close friend of Laurie Ireland, and he also helped write a few books.[2] He was married to Virginia B. Hahne [3]
