Julia Ferret De Vere (b.1852-d.1916), born Julia Ferret in Sturminster Newton in Dorset, performed as Okita with her husband Charles De Vere; first as an assistant and then as a performer herself. [1] [2] [3]

Biography

She was the first occidental magician on record who performed in a Japanese style act in 1877.

They had a daughter Clementine De Vere, who performed as "Ionia, the Goddess of Mystery."[4]
