Omar Yama, a printer, founded the Society of American Amateur Magicians (later to be the Society of in Syracuse, New York in 1917.
Yama was also the editor of their magazine, ORESTO.[1] Yama was also a member number 188 of the National Conjurers Association for which served as Associate Editor for their N.C.A. Digest as well as the printer.
The February, 1922 issue of Sphinx reported: "Among the most welcome visitors during the past month were ... Omar Yama, late of Syracuse, N.Y."
