Peter Pit (c.1935-1999) was born in Holland and began his performing career as a juggler in the Dutch circus.

In 1958, he won first place in General Magic at FISM.

Pit moved to the United States in 1960. He spook five languages, so he was a very popular emcee at magic shows worldwide. He became known for his routine with a dancing cane with which he won many awards. He made many TV appearances including the Ed Sullivan Show.


He was voted the Best Stage Magician in 1978 by the Academy of Magical Arts and the Lecturer of the Year, posthumously. For more than a decade, he booked the shows at the Magic Castle and served as the Academy of Magical Arts Secretary and on it's Board of Directors.

Pit was a a consultant to many popular magicians including Hans Klok and Siegfried & Roy.

He died at the Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles where he was undergoing treatment for leukemia.
