Prof. Ernst G. A. Agoston (1872-?), followed in his uncle Chevalier Agoston magical footsteps, touring Europe, South America and the United States in the late 1800s.[1]

Biography

Agoston received lessons in the magic arts from his uncle and began performing commenced at the age of 12 years as "The Boy Wonder."

He toured South America between 1888 and 1891 with Rodriguez Hermanos Circus as Wonder Worker, also doing a juggling act and slack wire walking.

He made his way to the United States in 1891, starting in Jacksonville, Florida he visited 28 States.

In 1904, he started his own Vaudeville Agency and Entertainment Bureau in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After only a year he returned again to performing and later began playing exclusively in Drawing Rooms and Club Work, featuring a blindfolded demonstration in Mental Telepathy.

In 1919, Agoston was in Chicago helping his friend B. L. Gilbert taking care of the Office Work for the Gilbert Magic Company.

He was IBM No. 21 and in 1930 was one of the oldest living members. That year, he was confined at a hospital in Dwight, Illinois, suffering from a severe attack of bronchial pleurisy. The year before he was confined for eight months at a hospital in Hines Illinois as the result of frequent hemorrhages. [2][3]
