Ralph Emerson Powell was a professional magician in Cleveland who started in vaudeville in 1921.
Powell was doing a full evening show by 1925.[1]
He published the trick "Experiment in Psychology-Stung", also known as "Stung and Stung Again trick" (with a note in the directions that it was barred from public use by anyone but himself).
He was a member of IBM, local ring 22 and attended the first I.B.M. conventions
Powell was one of the prime suspects in Cleveland's infamous "Torso Murders," which occurred between 1935 and 1938. Powell's connection with this grisly affair was never determined.
He ended his last years in Cleveland's Newbury Insane Asylum, where he died in solitary confinement.[2]
