Thornton Poole (1898-1982) served as president of P.C.A.M. (1964-65).

Biography

His magic interest started while watching big shows such as Chung Ling Soo.

Poole started work at 14 and be 1915 he was an apprentice in a bank. He joined the Army then moved on to cadet school for the Royal Air Force, receiving his Wings as a seaplane pilot. He served in France and Belgium.

After the war he served with the Belgium Bank staff, travelling to many countries. He moved to New York to work in Foreign Exchange banking, then investment business, from there he moved to Toronto with a paper manufacturing company that later brought him to Vancouver.

In 1943, while doing magic shows, he met Cecil Ackery and joined the Vancouver Magic Circle, being secretary, vice president and in 1947 their president. He also was the editor of the Magical Minutes, the monthly publication of the Vancouver Magic Circle.

He served on the Board of Governors for the P.C.A.M. and later became its president (1964-65). [1]
