Virginia Magic Society (VMS) is an independent magic organization that was formed in January of 1950 by the members of IBM Ring 50 in Washington, D. C. who lived in Virginia and wanted to continue with magic after the regular meetings. [1]

Founding members included Leon Solomon, A. J. Honeycutt, Louis Bertol, David Walkinshaw, George Blackburn, and Julius Hopkins.

The official name of the club was created in March of 1952, when VMS went to Baltimore and gave an hour show to the members of the Yogi Magic Club.

Meetings are held at members houses on a rotational basis. There are no dues, elections, or business sessions. Walkinshaw wrote their newsletter for many years.

Note: The SAM Assembly in Norfolk Virginia is also known as the "Virginia Magic Society"[2]
