William J. "Bill" Satchell (1879-1969), a weaver by trade, performed as "The Great Marvel" staring out doing Houdini type escapes.[1][2]
Biography
Satchell was native of Lancaster,England, but came to the U.S. at the age of 10. In 1938 he moved to Warwick Rhode Island and had been employed in several mills before retiring.[3]
Mr. Satchell was one of the early members of the I.B.M., joining in 1923 as member No. 260. He was charter member of I.B.M. Ring 44 in Providence, Rhode Island and served as it's President in the 1930s.[4]
