Clarence "Chick" Kueser (1916-1987), a musician and magician, was a re-charter member of the S.A.M. Assembly No. 8 in St. Louis.

Biography

As a youngster. Chick's interest was with the tenor banjo. He was a member of "The Early Birds", that appeared on the radio, dances and clubs in the area. He became Master of Ceremonies for the group and would add a bit of magic to his repertoire. He later joined Cowboy Jack and His Cowboy Band, traveling all over the country.

In 1940, Chick married Cecilia, who became an assistant in his act. they performed a special Doll House illusion built by Novelle Werheim.

In 1941, he entered a defense plant as an inspector, though still made musical and magical appearances around town.

When the war ended, he returned to working nightclubs and fairs. In 1945 he was hired by Famous Barr to work Christmas shows, performing up to ten times daily. He would continued to work for Famous Barr for twenty-eight years.

Kueser also had a business manufacturing feather flower bouquets which he sold to dealers all over the country.

He held I.B.M. No. 8304, joining 1945, and was a member of the Order of Merlin.[1] His wife was a member of the St. Louis Magigals.[2]
