Conde D'Aguilar (1909-1988), Portuguese for "Count D'Aguilar", was the stage name of Saul Fernandes d'Aguilar. A professinal illusionist who toured Europe, Morocco, Egypt, & Argentina.

Biography

He debuted as a fakir in 1926 and ten years later became an internationally known magician. He performed at the Lisbon Coliseum in 1936, and had a three-year contract at the Ritz Club.

The "Count d'Aguilar" had a very characteristic coat, green stripe and red to his chest, and many medals. In 1967 the Catalan newspaper El Mundo Deportivo described him as a magician of "good job and most able, but improvable sympathy" and excess of arrogance and indifference.

His Spanish partner and wife, June, was knowna as "Julia Domene Cruz Aguilar"

He has starred in the show "El Imaginarium" which premiered January 31, 1949 at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid . The Spanish newspaper ABC introduced him as "great illusionist and magician Lusitanian" that "does tricks full of cleaning, skill and elegance, truly amazing."

In 1954 the show debuted in Barcelona at the Teatro Barcelona, ​​with the Count d'Aguilar being billed as "a genius of illusion". In October of the same year he debuted in Madrid with the show "Intrigue and Humor," a magical-comic comedy written for the "Count d'Aguilar" by the Spanish magician Antonio of Armenteras.

The poet Alexandre O'Neill gave him a poem, "Homage to Aguilar de Conde, illusionist", published in his book The Saca Ears (1979).[1][2][3]
