Morris "Moe" Seidenstein (1909-2003) was an early member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians in the late 1920's-early 1930's.
Biography
Seidenstein was a friend of Gene Gordon, was an early founder of IBM and writer for The Linking Ring and also a friend of John Mulholland, a writer for The Sphinx.
Some time between 1928-1929, he was working as an errand boy for a manufacturer of office equipment and supplies, where a few doors away he would eat with a fellow by the name of Bill Beatty, a magician. Shortly after that he went to an I.B.M. meeting of magicians and later became a member of both I.B.M. and S.A.M. He started attending their convention in 1929 where took first prize for the best card trick of the year for he "Moe's Look at a Card" trick.
By 1935, he became the Office Manager and got married. They moved from downtown Broadway to Radio City. When the war started December 7, 1941, we had to stop the manufacture of steel office equipment and the company then no longer required me and many other employees as well.
In 1942, he became the assistant to the President of the Ever-Ready Label Corporation then worked there about one year and went to Fairchild Aviation to be in a defense job. Again becoming an assistant to the President of the company. His job from 1946 to 1962 was administering Government contracts and he continued to do similar type work from 1962 to 1970 until he retired.
During the next 26 years, he became a part-time traveler. Starting in 1997 he moved to a senior assisted living facility. Seidensteinwas still an active magician into his 90s.[1]
