S. R. Patrick (1907-2007), known professionally as Patricola, was a magic book collector who edited and published magic periodicals out of Fairport Harbor, Ohio
Biography
He performed professionally in the late 1920s under the name "Patricola" until the Depression had hit the business. He left active performing in 1931, though he occasionally appeared locally until the early 1960s. [1]
His magical writings started in The Billboard where his opinion pieces on magic appeared in the 1920s and '30s. He joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 1926, holding membership number 756, and his published articles in The Linking Ring of magic show reviews of magic shows over the years including Gleespen (1931), Dante (1941), and Virgil (1947).
Patrick worked in the powerhouse of the Industrial Rayon Co., retiring in 1971. He was a veteran of World War II, being discharged as a Sergeant Major.
Patrick published two periodicals The Spotlight in the 1940s and The Magical Bookie beginning in April 1960.[2] His Failing eyesight led Patrick to cease the publication and was starting to sell of his collections in 1986.[3]
