Penumbra was a bi-monthly Magic Periodical from Gordon Bean and Bill Goodwin that started with issue dated June 2002. Issue #10 came out in March, 2006 and Issue #11 in November, 2009.
Noted for publishing Stewart James' purported solution to his 51 Faces North effect that was found in his belongings after his death.
Fake issue
The fake "Summer Extra" was issued in August 2004 as a gag. The hoax was formally exposed when copies of the journal were distributed to attendees of the annual 31 Faces North conference in 2004 by David Ben. Ben solicited articles by others and put the issue together to look original. He also guessed on who some of the subscribers were and sent them out as if it was an official issue.[1]
