Tom Meseroll (born April 22, 1959) is an American magician, author, martial artist, astrophysicist, and pastor. He is known for his blend of magic and martial arts in his performances. He is on the faculty of Jeff Mcbride’s Mystery School in Las Vegas, Nevada and also performed and taught at the Theory and Art of Magic Conference at Muhlenberg College. He is a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and an expert at Okinawan weaponry. His expertise in sleight of hand skills won him the 2007 Close-Up Magician of the Year for the Southern California Society of American Magicians: An Award that was won previously by magical greats Dai Vernon and Al Goshman.
Biography Magician & Martial Artist
Tom Meseroll has been performing magic for the last 40+ years. One of his first performances was for the students, and Teller, at Lawrence High School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey in 1975. He borrowed Teller’s Selbit Sawing-in-half box for the performance. (Teller was teaching Latin at the time at the school.) Tom is an active magician member of the Academy of Magical Arts ( The Magic Castle) in Hollywood, The Magic Circle in London, and a 40 year member of the Society of American Magicians, Tom is also a black belt in Tang Soo Do (Korean karate) and a brown belt in Traditional Japanese karate, Shotokan. He is an expert at nunchakus, Sai and fairly accomplished with a Samurai Sword (a katana) in Iado. In his twenties Tom combined his martial arts with his magic and took on the name “The Magus: Master of Martial Magic” (Pronounced: Ma-gos). He has performed in large venues at Hughes Space and Communications, Boeing Satellite Systems, in Las Vegas at Palace Station and the Magic & Mystery School, magic conventions around the world, as well as performances at local Children’s hospitals for the past 30 years. He has invented a variety of martial magic tricks including dancing samurai swords, and a sightless vision (complete with play-do over his eyes etc, where he slices a watermelon in half on a audience member’s stomach with a samurai sword completely blindfolded—known as the “Sightless Samurai”).
Meseroll has also worked as a consultant on the film “The Ancient Code” as well as the upcoming documentary “The Story of Houdini.” He and his daughter Melina Meseroll are also cast in the film by Joe Gold "Desperate Acts of Magic" as magician finalists in the move, and perform the "Sightless Vision" in the film. Tom Meseroll also was a consultant on the book "Sleights of Mind: What the Neuroscience of Magic Reveals about Our Everyday Deceptions" by Dr. Stephen L. Macknik, Dr. Susana Martinez-Conde.
Author
Tom Meseroll is the author of the best-selling novel combining Magic, Martial Arts and Quantum Physics Magus: Master of Martial Magic, The Magician’s Primer and has done book signings throughout the U.S.A. The novel is a tale of real “magic” in the midst of scientific discoveries in Quantum Physics, Sleight of Hand performances and a spiritual journey to the Karakorums. Eugene Burger called it “A Fabulous tale incorporating Magic, Martial Arts and Eastern Philosophy. Tom Meseroll has managed to meld the many forms and philosophies of magic into a marvelous tale of good and evil.” The novel is currently planned for a mass release in Brazil in 2009 as well as a European version. The novel has been also written as a screenplay is currently in the hands of Johnny Depp and Mark Wahlberg.
Astrophysicist
Tom Meseroll has a B.S. in Astrophysics from U.C.L.A., as well as an M.S. in Geophysics and Space Physics from U.C.L.A. He had completed all of the required coursework for a Ph.D. but decided to go to work in industry before defending his dissertation then downgraded his 300 page effort entitled “The Effect on the Orientation and Magnitude of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field on Field-Aligned Currents in the Inner-Magnetosphere” to a Master’s Thesis. After graduation Tom was the Senior Systems Engineer on the MILSTAR MDR Payload, the Program Manager for NASA’s Deep Space Network, the Director of Systems Engineering for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, and a Senior Consultant for the Airforce on Military Satellite Communications.

Tom Meseroll has won several awards, including Best Innovative Act from Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger at the Las Vegas Magic & Mystery School, Close-Up Magician of the Year from the Southern California Society of American magicians, as well as the technical contractor of the year for the MILSATCOM Systems Wing at the Los Angeles Air force base.
