This was one of the earliest book on the theory of magic, which went further then just explaining how individual tricks worked. Decremps proposed and explain general principles .
Some of Decremps' "Immortal" Principles which are still accepted by most magicians today:
- Never announce beforehand the trick you are about to do.
- Have several ways of doing the same trick.
- Never do the same trick twice.
