Mel Jones (c.1917-1962), hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, performed as "Mr. Magic" and "Mello, the Magical Clown" assisted by his wife Jean.

Biography

Jones performed on numerous local television shows as both "Mr. Magic" in 1950, as Mello the clown in Evansville, Indiana.

Besides magic, Jones worked as a continuity writer, disc jockey and radio announcer.

He once performed a full magic show at 15,000 feet in the air, in the forward end of the DC-6 cabin on an American Airlines flight and 1,500 feet below ground in a coal mine. [1]

At the time of his death, he was a manager of the Lafayette Area Safety Council.[2][3]
