George McKenzie (b.1901-d.1975) was a magic dealer in Scotland.

Biography

McKenzie became interested in magic as a youngster and gave his first show in 1911. After apprenticing in engineering, he served in the Royal Engineers during the First World War.

During the 1920s, he left engineering for magic, playing various venues. He spent two years with Rameses, gaining valuable experience.

During the Depression of 1929, he decided to return to engineering for steady work, confining his magic to local events as "Mysterious Mac" and "The Uncanny Scot".

In the 1939, MacKenzie joined the Scottish Conjurers’ Association and started to sell magic as "Mac’s Mysteries" from his home. His first catalog was issued in 1942 and which eventually became Mac’s Mysteries Monthly (which eventually became Mac's Monthly‎).

MacKenzie died of a coronary thrombosis in his chalet at Butlin’s Holiday Camp, Ayr.[1]
